Autonomy and Relatedness Inventory (ARI)

Description:

Designed to assess the quality of an individual’s relationship with a "significant other" (including spouse, partner, other close relatives, or friends). The (ARI) (Schaeger, E.S. and Edgerton, M, 1982) is a short version of the Marital Autonomy and Relatedness Inventory [MARI] unpublished). It includes the 30 items which loaded most heavily on the MARI "Autonomy" and "Relatedness" scales. Items on the ARI comprise six Primary scales: Relatedness, Hostile Control, Acceptance, Detachment/Rejection, Control, and Autonomy; and two supplemental scales, Support and Listening.
