Debra, Another group to consider is the Amish and Plain Anabaptists. I have an article in review on incest in an Amish community and I am aware of the many barriers researchers face when trying to gather data from this group. I am also familiar with some of the challenges human service workers face when trying to provide services. I would be very interested in learning more about your work. It seems that the literature is a bit thin on this issue. What we are trying to get at are the incidence of and barriers to specific ethnic cultures and insular communities not being reported to the child welfare system or otherwise engaged in child welfare services. Research seems to be focused on disproportionality from the perspective of overrepresentation of minorities. We know anecdotally that there are groups that do not seek services outside of their own communities yet child abuse and neglect does indeed exist. We are trying to identify any research in this area, on both the incidence as well as any efforts that have been made to engage these groups in the child welfare system. Thank you.
