Subject:Re: Toxic stress during pregnancy
Hello again. I sent a colleague your question about the impact of incarceration as a source of toxic stress, and she didn't know of any research specifically looking at that aspect of pregnancy or birth. However, she did provide references for some publications that are related to pregnancy and birth during incarceration and to the effects of toxic stress on children. The latter doesn't specifically discuss birth during incarceration, but it does include parental incarceration as an adverse childhood experience. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1381975/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1447348/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3455933/ http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/129/1/e232.full.pdf
Hope this helps.

Hello Listmates,
I am a lawyer and am interested in learning more about the impact of toxic stress during pregnancy. I have two specific questions (and I'd really appreciate suggestions about things that I may be missing). First, I am interested to know if anyone could recommend an article, book chapter, etc., that could provide a good overview of the state of our knowledge about the impact of toxic stress during pregnancy for someone (i.e., a lawyer) who is not a researcher, etc.
Secondly, I am interested to know if there have been any studies looking at the impact of a woman's incarceration as a source or form of toxic stress and the impact that this particular stressor may have on the baby.
Thank you for any thoughts or leads you may be able to provide.
