These positions are ideal for individuals interested in careers at the research-policy nexus and in supporting the evaluation and analytic needs of strategies for translating scientific evidence to policymakers. Current project areas include child and family policy, including substance use prevention and child maltreatment prevention, with future work focused on evaluating an adaptation of the RPC model within university infrastructure and testing its impact in Congress. The program has placed more than 100 trainees in internships that provide hands-on experience in research translation, evaluation, and policymaking. Participants gain valuable skills relevant to careers in research, government, advocacy, and public policy. As one former trainee shared: "As an early-career researcher, this opportunity was incredibly valuable for gaining a behind-the-scenes understanding of how research can inform and connect with policymaking."
