SUMMER RESEARCH INSTITUTE 2026
NDACAN held its 34th annual Summer Research Institute (SRI) on May 21st, 22nd, 26th, and 27th. There were 13 participants who worked on analyzing datasets and received daily support from NDACAN staff familiar with the data. SRI 2027 will be announced later this year: please join our general mailing list to receive the announcement.
SUMMER TRAINING SERIES 2026
Join us for our upcoming Summer Training Series! Our theme this year is "Laying the Groundwork." This series is designed to strengthen the foundational skills necessary to conduct high-quality, impactful research with administrative data. Through hands-on sessions, participants will gain practical experience with key aspects of administrative data, such as understanding data structures, managing data quality, linking across data sources, and data presentation. For scholars who are new to this area or are seeking to reinforce essential competencies, this series offers a thorough starting point for building rigorous research on child welfare using administrative data.
Sessions will occur every Wednesday in July from 12 - 1pm (Eastern Time) via Zoom.
This series is free but registration is required through the link below.

REMINDER TO DATA USERS
NDACAN notifies licensed data users when new dataset versions are released, such as updates to the publically available AFCARS data files. Users are strongly encouraged to download and use the most recent version of the data to use for all analyses, as earlier versions may contain incomplete and outdated information.
