Subject:Residential Assessment Centers

Greetings Colleagues, My colleagues (Bethany Lee and Lysbert Zeinstra) and I have been looking at programs that intervene on behalf of mothers and children placed together into foster care or residential settings (which we call shared family care). One related program—which is quite often used in the UK and some other countries—is residential assessment centers which have parents and children in residence as a way of assessing parents performance in providing safe and developmentally adequate parenting. We find some literature about this from other countries but almost nothing about this in the USA or Canada. If you know of such programs or of anyone else who is interested in how these centers operate (especially, do they provide any intervention benefit along with the assessment while in residence I would welcome contact information or citations. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide, Rick Richard P.
