2024 Data on Child Maltreatment Trends
New national data have been released for 2024, showing a 3% decline in the rate of all substantiated child maltreatment compared to 2023. Sexual abuse declined 10%, neglect dropped 6%, while physical abuse increased 2%. Child maltreatment fatalities also declined by 10%.
