Outstanding Paper Awards – due July 16th!
The National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect (NDACAN) is thrilled to announce two new biennial paper awards! Nominations are due by July 16, 2025, at 5pm PT.
* The Outstanding Paper Award will recognize a piece of exemplary scholarship using NDACAN data holdings that engages with current child welfare research and sets a larger agenda for the field. Preference will be given to scholarship that is rigorous, demonstrates excellence in the use of NDACAN data, and makes a significant contribution to the study of and, ideally, practice of child welfare.
* The Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award will recognize a piece of exemplary scholarship authored by a graduate student using NDACAN data holdings that has the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of child welfare and is on the “cutting edge” of inquiry. Preference will also be given to nominees’ whose work has the potential to decrease children’s exposure to maltreatment or plausibly unnecessary contact with the child welfare system.
Please email nominations as a single PDF to paige.loganprater@ucsf.edu with the subject “NDACAN Outstanding Paper Nomination”. Winners will be awarded a plaque, recognized in NDACAN promotional materials, and serve on the review committee for future awards. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged! Nominators may only nominate one nominee for this award. Nomination materials required:
* Nominating letter highlighting (limit 2 paragraphs):
* Methodological rigor and excellence
