Subject:SSWR Reviewers needed

Good afternoon! If you attend the SSWR conference or would like to start, please consider serving as a reviewer for the child welfare cluster. Our cluster typically receives the largest number of submissions each year. As a cluster co-chair, thanks to the many of you who already review. If you are not already reviewing, please consider signing up. This is not a large time commitment, typically less than conducting a single journal article review. Your support could help get those acceptance notifications out earlier this year! ☺️ Kristen Kristen D. Application Deadline: 4/10/2023 SSWR 2024 Call for Applications - Volunteer Abstract Reviewers for SSWR 2024 Annual Conference. Application Deadline: 4/10/2023 March 27, 2023 Dear SSWR membership, SSWR is pleased to announce an open call for applications for volunteer abstract reviewers for the 28th Annual Conference, which will convene in-person in Washington, DC, January 10-14, 2024. Your participation will enhance the scientific rigor and efficiency of the abstract review process and be prominently acknowledged on the 2024 Conference website. Reviewing abstracts requires a relatively small-time commitment and is an easy way for members to provide service to SSWR. It is also a way you can ensure the program reflects your interests in social work research. We hope you will consider applying and helping us with this important process. Abstract Reviewer Eligibility Criteria: To apply as a volunteer reviewer, you must submit an application and meet the following criteria: * PhD/DSW in social work or social welfare (or be on a social work faculty) * Maintain a current program of research * Possess relevant expertise to the SSWR clusters and topics SSWR Mentor/Student-Mentee Opportunity for Student Members: SSWR encourages PhD students to participate in the abstract review process through a mentor/student-mentee approach. Please consider forming a Mentor/Student-Mentee Review Pair or a Mentor/Student-Mentee Review Group. Mentors may identify a single mentee or a group of mentees. We encourage students to approach their mentor or a faculty member to serve as their mentor. (SSWR does not make mentor/mentee matches.) Only the Mentors will sign up to review. During the sign-up process, Mentors will be asked for their Mentee information. The Mentor is responsible for sharing the abstracts and scoring criteria with their Mentee(s) and for entering the scores into the online abstract review system. The Mentor is responsible for ensuring the review deadline is met. Upon completion of the abstract review process, mentors are responsible for confirming who participated. Mentors and Mentees will be acknowledged as members of the Abstract Review Committee. Abstract Review Processes and Assignments: The abstract review is a blind, peer-review process. Participation of qualified and active scholars in the abstract review process is critical to the success of this effort. We appreciate the time and effort of individual reviewers and seek to keep the commitment limited (contingent on a sufficient rate of participation by potential reviewers such as you). Reading and rating abstracts will require approximately 10-15 minutes for each abstract and we expect that individual reviewers will typically evaluate 15 to 20 abstracts. The more reviewers who volunteer, the fewer the number of abstracts each person will be asked to review and the more quickly we can move through the abstract review process. Reviewers will have two weeks (June 1-15, 2023) to complete their reviews. So that abstract status notifications can be sent to authors by mid-September, we rely on all volunteer reviewers to submit their scores by the June 15th deadline. Abstract reviewers who complete their review assignments will receive two (2) Fellows points . Application process: please complete the application form (see Addendum A for application form questions) by April 10, 2023. The status of your application will be emailed by April 30. If you are accepted as a reviewer, we will email you specific details of the abstract review procedures in early-June.
