Subject:New SCAN Policies Database Resources: 2021 State Statutes

On behalf of the State Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) Policies Database team, I would like to announce the availability of new resources for data users, specifically the state statutes on definitions of child abuse and neglect from the 2021 SCAN Policies Database. More information, including links to the resources, are below.   Updated State Statutes Available on the State Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) Policies Database The State Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) Policies Database now includes updated state statutes for users interested in statutory language regarding child abuse and neglect definitions for 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Downloadable PDF documents are available with updated state statutes as of 2021. Access the latest state statute documents here. These updated state statutes were used to code data in the 2021 data file released in the SCAN Policies Database in September 2022.   The SCAN Policies Database , funded by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE), is a resource that can be used for analysis by researchers, analysts, policymakers, child welfare agencies, and others interested in examining differences in states’ child maltreatment definitions and policies. You can learn more about the database as well as the data files and data use resources it contains by visiting www.SCANPoliciesDatabase.com . _________________________________ Elizabeth Weigensberg Principal Researcher Phone: 312-585-3287 eweigensberg@mathematica-mpr.com www.mathematica-mpr.com
