Subject:RPC: Foster Care Placements Resource Request
The Research-to-Policy Collaboration (RPC) has recently been working with a Congressional office whose current priorities involve preventing and improving foster care placements.
We are reaching out to relevant members of the RPC Rapid Response Network to see if you or other members can provide any insights from the research literature on the following questions by Friday, June 3rd. (send responses to toriaherd@research2policy.org )
1. What are some effective ways to increase capacity to house children who have been removed but are without a current placement in the foster care system?
2. How can foster parents be better recruited, retained, and supported?
3. What are effective strategies and solutions for preventing the need for foster care placements (e.g., ending child abuse, increasing adoption, etc.)? Where might policymakers invest?
It is perfectly fine if you don't have all of the answers. Any information or resources on the above - or the names and email addresses of researchers you know whom we should contact about this - would be greatly appreciated!
