Subject:Three postdoctoral fellow positions available

All, please see attached for three post-doctoral positions. Text is pasted below in case attachment does nto come through. Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Violence Prevention – 3 positions. School of Public Health, Georgia State University The School of Public Health (https://publichealth.gsu.edu/ ) at Georgia State University invites applications for three (3) post-doctoral positions. We seek bright, active junior scholars with skills in data analyses and writing, whose goal is to build skills in conducting grant-funded violence-related research. Candidates for all positions may be involved in grant activities, data analyses, writing paper for peer-review submission, and preparation of new grants. Ample opportunity for collaborations across a diversity faculty will be available. Opportunities for mentorship of junior colleagues will also be available. Applicants with backgrounds in Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Epidemiology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have completed PhD’s or should be very near completion at the time of application. The specific positions are described as follows. (1) The first position is a one-year grant funded postdoctoral fellowship under the direction of Dr. Dennis Reidy (https://publichealth.gsu.edu/profile/dennis-reidy/ ), effective Spring/Summer 2022. Candidates must have 1) an interest in researching adolescent health (sexual and dating violence, risky sexual behavior, substance use, and other health risk behaviors), 2) strong writing skills and evidence of writing for peer reviewed publication, and 3) solid quantitative skills with interest in analyzing intervention and longitudinal data. The Postdoctoral Fellow will join faculty analyzing data from four large data sets of ethnically diverse pre- and early adolescent youth drawn from randomized trials of sexual risk reduction and healthy relationship promotion interventions. This large sample will allow us to overcome the methodological limitations of prior efforts and determine which factors are most impactful in preventing teen sexual/dating violence adverse sexual health outcomes and reducing disparities in adverse sexual health outcomes. The selected fellow will spend the majority of their time developing and writing manuscripts on the intersection between teen sexual/dating violence and adverse sexual health (sexual risk behavior, sexually transmitted infections, and teen pregnancy). There will also be opportunities to receive mentorship in developing proposals for federal grant funding. (2) The second position a postdoctoral fellowship in Alcohol and Sexual Assault Prevention within the National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention to begin Summer or Fall 2022. The goal is to identify a productive scholar who demonstrates readiness for completion of the fellowship training. This two-year research fellowship is contingent on successful first year completion. We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow who aims to obtain preparatory training for a career in intervention research. The postdoctoral fellowship will include working on NIH- and DoD-funded projects with Dr. Amanda Gilmore (https://publichealth.gsu.edu/profile/amanda-gilmore/ ) and protected time to conduct independent research. The National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention aims to prevent sexual violence using cross-cutting approaches among high-risk populations including college students, military, and adolescents. We are dedicated to health disparities research and have a specific focus on reducing alcohol and sexual violence among minoritized and underserved populations including people of color and LGBTQIA+ students and youth. The National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention is housed within the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development (https://healthy.gsu.edu/about/ ), is a university-level research center committed to promoting the health, safety and well-being of children, adults and families through research, service, education, training and advocacy. The MCCHD has a specific focus on health disparities, and we are recruiting an emerging scholar with research interests within health disparities research. (3) The third position is a postdoctoral fellow within National SafeCare© Training and Research Center (NSTRC). The position will focus on the intersection of child maltreatment and parental substance abuse. We hope to hire a productive junior scholar with outstanding analytic and writing skills, an interest in intervention and implementation research, and an interest in grant development. This position will involve work on a ACF grant-funded project to understand the interaction between the child welfare and the family drug court system to include both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, manuscript development, and assistance with grant management. Additional work will include manuscript development from additional data sets, development and submission of grant proposals, and independent research projects. The position is open immediately, and available for two years depending on the successful completion of a first year. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Whitaker and will have ample opportunity to collaborate with other scholars. The NSTRC is a research and implementation center that disseminates the SafeCare model to child welfare and public health agencies around the work and presents a unique and rich environment in which to conduct intervention and implementation research. NSTRC is housed within the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Developmen t, a university-level research center committed to promoting the health, safety and well-being of children, adults and families through research, service, education, training and advocacy. In all positions, there will be opportunities to interact with other scholars (faculty, post-docs, and students) and engage with other research centers such as the Center for Research on Interpersonal Violence , the GSU Prevention Research Center which focuses on refugee health, the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science , and other Centers and scholars depending on the fellow’s interest.
