Subject:Important Survey regarding virtual visitation and Child Dependency
Dear Colleagues I’m writing to tell you about an important new study that I’m involved in. As you know, children and families in the child welfare system are experiencing unique challenges during COVID-19, particularly related to contact and visits. We need to hear from the professionals working with these families to better understand these challenges. Child Welfare in the Pandemic: Professionals' Perspectives on the Impact of COVID-19, is being conducted by Abbie Goldberg, a Professor of Psychology at Clark University in Worcester, MA, in collaboration with Drs . David Brodzinsky and Jacqueline Singer, psychologists in private practice in California, and Patience (Polly) Crozier , an attorney in Massachusetts. We are interested in professionals’ perspectives on the challenges facing families involved in the child welfare system during COVID-19, particularly those related to contact and the use of virtual forms of communication. Social workers, case workers, case managers, attorneys, and therapists who work with child welfare-involved families are encouraged to participate.
The anonymous survey will take about 15 minutes. You may complete the survey if you are a professional working in the child welfare system (e.g., attorney, social worker, CASA volunteer) who works with families of origin, children, or foster parents: namely, individuals involved in the child welfare system. Responses are anonymous and cannot be traced back to participants, participation is voluntary, and respondents may drop out at any time.
At the end of the survey, you will have the option of (a) being entered into a drawing for one of three $50 Amazon gift cards, as well as (b ) receiving information about the study findings. Specifically, you will be redirected to a separate link, not connected to your data, that allows you to enter your name and email and indicate whether you would like to be (a) entered into the drawing and/or (b ) contacted about study results. You can contact the principal investigator of the study, Abbie Goldberg, with any questions: agoldberg@clarku.edu; 508.793.7289.
The survey link is here: https://clarku.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0wj2wp61xBUzTeJ
Please forward this on to colleagues, friends, and others who might be interested in completing the survey!
This study has been approved by the Clark Committee for the Rights of Human Participants in Research and Training Programs (IRB ). Any questions about human rights issues should be directed to the IRB Chair, Dr. Robert Johnson, or by e-mail (humansubjects@clarku.edu).
Be well and thank you for your help!
