Subject:RE: Adoption outcomes for siblings adopted together vs. apart
Hello, We have looked at adoption outcomes for siblings adopted together or apart. Here are two citations: Rolock, N. & White, K. R. (2017). Continuity for children after guardianship versus adoption with kin: Approximating the right counterfactual. Child Abuse and Neglect, 72, 32-44. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.chiabu.2017.07.001
Rolock, N. & White, K. R. (2016). Post-permanency discontinuity: A longitudinal examination of outcomes for foster youth after adoption or guardianship. Children and Youth Services Review, 70, 419-427. doi: 10.1016/j.childyouth.2016.10.025
The research on sibling placement together while in foster care is much more extensive. In addition to what others have suggested, I would add:
Leathers, S. (2005). Separation from siblings: Associations with placement adaptation and outcomes among adolescents in long-term foster care. Children and Youth Services Review, 27, 793-819. doi:10.1016/j.childyouth.2004.12.015
Hegar & Rosenthal (2009). Kinship care and sibling placement: Child behavior, family relationships, and school outcomes. Children and Youth Services Review 31, 670–679. doi:10.1016/j.childyouth.2009.01.002

Subject: Adoption outcomes for siblings adopted together vs. apart
Dear all,
I am looking for research on outcomes of children adopted with or without one or more siblings when sibling groups are available for adoption. I would also welcome any literature on outcomes for siblings who are sepearted through adoption but who continue to have contact. Finally, I am interested in what the literature says about the benefits of keepig siblings together in foster care versus seperating them through adoption (i.e., the relative merits of keeping the siblings together in an impermanent setting, versus seperating them for the purposes of finding one or more a permanent home). Any and all research gratefully accepted.
Many thanks,
Kate
