Subject:custody of siblings together vs. apart?

While people are discussing related themes, can anyone point me to data (or share PDFs or links) on the well-being of siblings who are kept together or separated in custody decisions? I'm working on a situation where an abusive father has been given custody (long story) and has placed one sibling with a distant relative while keeping the other. I would also welcome any literature on outcomes for siblings who are sepearted through adoption but who continue to have contact. Finally, I am interested in what the literature says about the benefits of keepig siblings together in foster care versus seperating them through adoption (i.e., the relative merits of keeping the siblings together in an impermanent setting, versus seperating them for the purposes of finding one or more a permanent home).
