Mark, Dr. Patricia Babcock of FSU’s Florida Institute for Child Welfare (http://csw.fsu.edu/ficw/) may have an inside track on in State resources, the Institute may also be able to support your work if it aligns with their current or future priorities, see the FICW report, “Improving the Quality of Residential Group Care: A Review of Current Trends, Empirical Evidence, and Recommendations” http://csw.fsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/Residential-Group-Care.pdf . I’m interested in the topic of psychological maltreatment, or emotional abuse, in residential treatment settings. I would like to develop research that explores the relationship between systemic factors (such as regulation and oversight) and environmental factors (such as program design and actual content of treatment). I’d also like to compare these factors with the prevalence of emotional/psychological harm. Are there datasets that capture systemic, environmental, and emotional/psychological aspects of institutional child abuse in the United States? Any advice is welcome.
