Subject:Fw: physical abuse, monthly variations in # of cases
To the diverse researchers on this list,
I'm wondering if anyone has ideas about this. I'm reposting as I think this message hit the list at a busy time before and might have been overlooked.
I'm interested in knowing more about month to month variations in physical abuse of children. Any data source is good: reported to child protection, intentional injuries seen in hospital emergency rooms, other. My colleagues and I are exploring the potential to replicate this 2007 paper and need to get a handle on the literature first. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Thomas, N. J., Shaffer, M. L., Rzucidlo, S., Shirk, B. J., & Dias, M. S. (2007). Temporal factors and the incidence of physical abuse in young children: decreased nonaccidental trauma during child abuse prevention month. Journal of pediatric surgery, 42(10), 1735-1739.
