Dear Colleagues: Please see the description below for a new position with Prevent Child Abuse America in Chicago IL. Thank you, Kathryn Harding, MA Senior Director of Research, Prevent Child Abuse America Research & Data Specialist The position of Research and Data Specialist supports data and research initiatives across Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and requires a high level of organization, independent work, and attention to detail and timelines. A strong grasp of the research literature on the topic of child maltreatment is required as is a working knowledge of data analysis. The position of Research and Data Specialist reports directly to the Chief Research and Strategy Officer. Roles & Responsibilities: * Produce written products on the topic of child maltreatment (e.g., policy & research briefs, book chapters) * Locate, write, and submit funding proposals * Assist in draft annual summary reports for PCAA * Remain current on new and emerging child maltreatment research * Technical support to networks * Present research findings to diverse stakeholders (e.g., conferences, Board meetings, donors) * Assist in all duties associated with selecting, implementing, and managing a data system across the Healthy Families America (HFA) network * Conduct basic data analysis from chapter and HFA network * Work on special projects as assigned Necessary Qualifications & Skills: Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Education and/or Experience: * Master’s degree and experience in social work, public health, policy, or other allied discipline required. * Knowledge of empirical literature on child maltreatment, prevention, and home visitation. Language Skills: * Excellent communications skills, including both writing and public speaking so as to assist in the translation of research into policy and practice. Mathematical Skills: * Expertise with SPSS or SAS statistical software and comprehensive knowledge of advanced statistical methods. Reasoning Ability: * Strong skills in analytical thinking and understanding of scientific method. Other Qualifications: * Experience with data management, analysis, and interpretation * Familiarity with SPSS * Knowledge of child abuse and neglect research * Strong analytic skills * Strong written and oral communication * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously * Close attention to detail Travel Required: * The employee must be available to travel locally and nationally a few times a year. Work Environment: The office is located at 228 South Wabash Avenue in Chicago, IL in a professional and vibrant area of the city. Appointment and Salary PCAA prefers to fill this position early in 2019, however, the position will remain open until a suitable candidate accepts the position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
