Overview WRMA, a woman-owned small business, has implemented hundreds of customized projects for federal, state, and local governments, as well as for the private and nonprofit sectors, and international corporations. Our company has more than 30 years of experience and expertise in research, evaluation, performance measurement and monitoring, and data and IT analytic services. Our primary mission is to support system-wide improvements in the delivery of programs for children and families, communities, and at-risk populations. With our team of top research social scientists, we are committed to the delivery of quality, evidence-based deliverables for our clients. The Rockville office has an immediate opening for a Research Associate to work on the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System project. Since 1988, WRMA, Inc., has worked with the Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) to design, implement, and maintain a congressionally mandated national data collection and reporting system about child maltreatment. The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), is widely accepted as the primary source of child protective services (CPS) statistics about child maltreatment in the United States. Data submitted by the states to NCANDS are used to measure the various performance and accountability objectives of ACYF and the data are a critical resource for the federal government, child welfare agencies, researchers, media personnel, and the public. This position is in the Rockville, Maryland, office. Responsibilities Successful applicants will lead or contribute to the following activities: * Conducting routine and specialized quantitative data analyses * Provide ad hoc analysis of data as requested, for other staff and clients * Contributing to the development of project work plans and progress reports * Assisting with development and providing training and technical assistance * Assisting with data collection, validation, and quality assurance * Maintaining and manipulating large datasets * Assisting with preparation of technical research reports and other products Qualifications This position requires: * At least a bachelor’s degree (with 2 years relevant experience) in the social sciences, such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Statistics, Public Health, Public Policy, or related fields. * Experience with data quality assurance and quantitative data analysis * Experience with SPSS or Tableau * Competence in Microsoft Office applications; advanced skills in MS Excel preferred * Excellent interpersonal skills * Effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of audiences * Excellent organization skills * Willingness to engage in a wide range of tasks An idea candidate would have: * Familiarity with government projects or policy, or interest in working in child welfare policy * Applied research experience * Experience with technical assistance and training * Experience maintaining and manipulating large datasets Working at WRMA can provide for a very fulfilling and rewarding career.
